Firearms certificates are issued by the parishes. You can get an application form from your parish hall and you must return it there. If you're visiting Jersey and need a temporary firearm certificate, you can download this below.
By law, if you own any firearms (including shotguns and air weapons) or ammunition, you must have a valid firearm certificate. A firearm certificate is valid for 5 years.
Firearm certificate application form (including renewals and variations)
You can get a firearm certificate application form from your parish hall. You can also use this form for the renewal of a certificate, or for a variation of a certificate (if you wish to get further firearms, or increase the amount / type of ammunition, you must first get authorisation from your parish connétable. You must return your completed form to your parish hall.
With your completed application form, you'll also need to submit:
- 4 passport-sized photographs of yourself
- 2 forms from 2 different referees who know you (this form is attached to the application form)
- the relevant fee: £35 for a new certificate / renewal; and £15 for a variation (no charge for change of address)

Temporary firearm certificate (if visiting Jersey)
You can download an application form for a temporary firearm certificate below. You should return your application to the address on the form, and you must allow at least 30 days' notice of your arrival in Jersey.
Your application may not be processed if you give us less than 30 days' notice.
