The Community Safety Branch

THE community safety branch (CSB) works with two initiatives: the Prison! Me? No Way! programme and Youth Affairs

These two areas of the Community Safety Branch work relatively closely together but equally provide very different services. Both work predominantly with the Island's schools towards a common goal of teaching the Island's young people about their responsibilities and their safety. The fact that dedicated officers form part of both programmes means that children can put a 'face' to States of Jersey Police through the youth affairs officer or their community officer.

Prison! Me! No Way!

The Prison! Me! No Way! initiative is a charity to which the police contribute resources to. The initiative operates workshops in schools to give young people a taste of life inside prison. The scheme aims to provide deterrent for the consequences of committing a crime. It has proved extremely effective in the past and has attracted award recognition. The programme operates widely in many of Jersey's schools. For more information on Prison! Me! No Way! please follow this link.

Youth Affairs

There is a dedicated youth affairs officer, whose focus is on working with schools and providing a familiar police contact. In addition, visiting foreign students can receive safety advice in the hope of making sure their stay is both safe and memorable. This has been a particular success in recent years with our Youth Affairs officer giving inputs to around 1,500 foreign students on an annual basis.
