Deputy Chief Officer

Lenny Harper Deputy Chief Officer

The Deputy Chief Officer of the States of Jersey Police is David Warcup QPM.

Mr Warcup took up his appointment as DCO at the States of Jersey Police in August 2008. He is also the strategic lead on the ongoing historical abuse enquiry. He was awarded the Queen’s Police Medal in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List in 2008.

His current main responsibilities are Personnel, Training and Professional Standards and he is the Force’s lead on Diversity and Equal Opportunities.

Prior to joining the Jersey force, Mr Warcup was the Deputy Chief Constable of Northumbria Police where he served for 32 years.
He joined Northumbria Police as a Constable in July 1976 and since then has moved through the ranks to become a Sergeant in 1985 and an Inspector in 1989. In February 1992 he was promoted to the rank of Chief Inspector and worked as an area commander at the rank of Superintendent in March 1994.

In June 2005 he became Deputy Chief Constable of Northumbria Police, after serving as Assistant Chief Constable.
