Man charged following incident in Columbus Street

ARRESTS IN COLUMBUS STREET – UPDATE

RELEASED TO MEDIA AT 8:50 AM ON MONDAY 24 AUGUST 2009

Following the arrests of a 20 year old man and an 18 year old woman on Sunday 23 August, the States of Jersey Police can confirm that the 18 year old woman, who was arrested on suspicion of causing a breach of the peace, was released without charge, pending further enquiries.

The 20 year old man, Scott Gerard WILLIAMSON of St Helier, has been charged with the following three offences:

Committing an alleged grave and criminal assault in Columbus Street on 23 August
Possession of an offensive weapon in Columbus Street on 23 August
Breach of an exclusion order on 23 August

Mr Williamson will appear before the Magistrate on Monday 24 August at 10 am to answer the charges.
