Royal Couert sentences for 3 following stiletto attack

STATEMENT FOR RELEASE TO MEDIA FOLLOWING SENTENCING OF PALLETT AND JUVENILES FOR GRAVE AND CRIMINAL ASSAULT IN JERSEY’S ROYAL COURT

‘This case illustrates the devastating consequences that serious violence can have for victims. The States of Jersey Police will continue to tackle as a priority the need for a reduction in violent crime and maintain efforts to target violent offenders. We are committed to providing the necessary resources to investigate serious, violent crime and bring the offenders to justice.

This was a particularly serious offence, with the victim losing the sight in one eye and whilst these serious offences are thankfully rare, the consequences for victims can be everlasting.

The States of Jersey Police will continue to be pro-active in cases such as these, and will act to ensure that such assaults do not go unchallenged by the Police. We would always urge victims of assaults to report them to us as quickly as possible so that they can be looked into swiftly and thoroughly.’
