Man charged with alleged animal welfare offences

A MAN will appear before the Magistrate on 24 July charged with alleged offences under the Animal Welfare (Jersey) Law 2004.

Patrick O’Ryan (18), a resident of Waterford, Republic of Ireland, faces two charges of causing unnecessary suffering to animals at the Elizabeth Terminal on Monday 13 July 2009.

The details of the offence are that he allegedly attempted to import seven puppies into the Island on that date.

A 13 year old youth, who was arrested on suspicion of the same offences, has now been released pending further enquiries.
