Man charged with drugs offences

CHARGES FOLLOW DRUGS ARRESTS

Following a number of arrests at addresses around the island on Thursday morning, varying amounts of the Controlled Drugs Cannabis and Cocaine were seized together with substantial cash assets.

One local resident,

William John SCOBIE
Born 12th Sept 1958 Glasgow

has consequently been charged with numerous Drugs Trafficking Offences involving illicit substances with a maximum potential Street value of £12,500. The charges include possession, possession with intent to supply and the offering to supply of Cannabis and simple possession of Cocaine

He has been remanded in custody for his appearance before the Magistrate on Monday 22nd June 2009

The remaining detainees have been released whilst investigations continue.

The States of Jersey Police remains focussed on Making Jersey Safer which includes the targeting of not only the serious and organised crime groups whom are drawn to the island by its small but lucrative drugs market, but also the street level drug dealers whose operations we seek to dismantle and their criminal assets seize.
