All users of social network sites are reminded of the importance of knowing who they are communicating with. Parents of children using the internet should be vigilant as to what sites their children are logging on to and who they are communicating with.

Detective Inspector Mark Houzé, who is leading the investigation said

“Sitting down and reviewing chat log entries with your children is a good way of gaining an understanding of how these sites work and who is using them. The internet is hugely popular with youngsters and brings great opportunities. However, there are also dangers linked to the internet and parents should be aware of what communications are taking place and who their children are chatting to.”

Mark Houzé
Detective Inspector
