Further charge in historical abuse enquiry

THE States of Jersey Police can confirm that a man has been charged in connection with the historical abuse enquiry.

Leonard Miles Vandenborn, (62) who lives in Jersey, faces 27 charges including rape and indecent assaults, committed between 1975 – 1986, against two girls on separate occasions.

Mr Vandenborn, who was charged on Friday evening (02 October) will be remanded in custody over the weekend, and will appear in the Magistrate’s Court at 10 am on Monday 5th October 2009 to answer the charges.

The historical abuse enquiry remains ongoing.

One case is currently going through the Court system, that of Ronald George THORNE, who has now had his case committed to the Royal Court. Mr Thorne (71) faces four charges of gross indecency with a boy. The offences are alleged to have taken place between December 1981 and March 1984, when the boy was aged between 11 and 14.
