Royal Square incident - witness appeal

Tuesday 22 September 2009

RELEASED TO MEDIA AT 15:10 PM ON TUESDAY 22 SEPTEMBER 2009

At approximately 8:00 pm on Thursday 10th September 2009, States of Jersey Police officers attended a report of a disturbance between a number of young girls and some adults in the Royal Square, St Helier.

One group of 5 or 6 girls allegedly verbally abused 2 younger girls resulting in the parents of the younger group becoming involved.

The group involved were located by States of Jersey Police officers in the centre of the square close to the statue. It is known that the area was busy at the time, due to patrons of nearby pubs and restaurants being in the Square.

Witnesses are requested who may have seen either the disturbance described above or more importantly, the events that led up to the Police being called, to make contact with the Police.

Any with any information is requested to contact either the CID department at police headquarters on 612200, or alternatively Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
